Get ready for the most original and unexpected gig of the festive season! We are thrilled to announce a collaboration that has never been tried before: a joint show between two of York's long standing distinct community bands, York RI Golden Rail Band and Bargestra.
This is more than just a concertits a dynamic clash of styles, united by a shared passion for fun, accessible music making in the heart of York.

Meet the Bands:

York RI Golden Rail Band
The York RI Golden Rail Band, with a heritage stretching back over 40 years, is a true cornerstone of the York brass band music scene. They deliver traditional Christmas arrangements, marches, popular film titles and even the occasional pop tune. Their playing is rooted in brass band tradition but they are not afraid to push the boundaries of the formality of a brass band repertoire, offering a striking and thrilling contrast to Bargestras looser, groove-based style.

Bargestra
Since 2011, Bargestra have grown and evolved into an enthusiastic 22-player line-up. Their ethos is built around an informal, all-abilities approach to music making. They specialise in fun, feel-good music, covering everything from upbeat pop and disco to infectious funk and jazz. Expect high-energy grooves and plenty of festive spirit!

The Unexpected Collaboration
