Being Human Festival presents: Spooky Stories, United Kingdom, 2025

Being Human Festival presents: Spooky Stories

Join us in the spooky ruins of Sopwell Ruins for a unique storytelling performance exploring magic, myth and legend.

Professional storyteller Olivia Armstrong will reimagine tales of fairies, werewolves and the Green Lady of Hertfordshire for a family audience. These original stories have been inspired by the research of academics including Dr Sam George, Dr Kaja Franck and Dr Ceri Houlbrook.

This event is suitable for families and children aged 8+. Some stories will include elements of folk-horror, so may not be suitable for younger children. In the event of bad weather, this event will be held at a nearby indoor venue. Ticket holders will be contacted with further details.

This event is part of the University of Hertfordshire Being Human Festival 2025 Hub programme. Being Human is the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6 - 15 November 2025. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
