Journey through the decades of jazz in Southampton, from its swing and big band roots to bebop, soul-jazz and blues, exploring how the city’s social history and musical heritage intertwine.
A specially assembled 12-piece house band – featuring renowned musicians including Jay Phelps and J Fashole-Luke - joins seven standout vocalists, including Claire Martin and David McAlmont, performing unique arrangements of classic and reimagined jazz favourites.
Produced by Southampton Forward, with Musical Director Peter Edwards, in collaboration with Don John (founder of Black History Month South), and with programming support from Kevin Appleby and Turner Sims.
