Specialist Tour : Chapels and Chantries

Why does Norwich Cathedral have so many chapels and chantries? Join this tour to discover the role they played in the long history of the cathedral, and what happened to them in the centuries after the Reformation. They have for over 900 years served as focal points for worship for Bishops, Priors and amongst others trades - painters. We will include chapels built by our founding Bishop, to the Chapel of the Holy Innocents, dedicated in 1997. Each of our chapels is filled with history reflecting how worship and Christian life have evolved since they were first used in 1101.

The tour starts at 2.15pm on Friday 3 October 2025.

Tickets costs just 7.00 plus a small booking fee.

Please note that tickets for specialist tours are non-refundable.

Arriving for the tour
Just ask a member of the welcome and donations team when you arrive at the Hostry entrance to the Cathedral, and they will direct you to the starting point for the tour.
